Steffi Laier gewinnt den GP in Portugal!

Unsere MX Weltmeisterin Steffi Laier startet voll durch und gewinnt den Grand Prix in Portugal vor Livia Lancelot und Maria Franke.
Really bad weather conditions made this a really on of the hardest GP of this year! A very slippery race track
was the second round of the world championship. Steffi took the overall before Livia Lancelot and Maria Franke.
Race 1: Because of a lot of rain the track
became very slippery. This already started in the
first corner were she took the inside and nearly
took the lead. But bad luck was on here side.
She crashed together with Papenmeyer and had
to start the race as last of the pack!
It would be a hard race for her to catch up in
the front. The lead at that moment was for Elin
Mann and Natalie Kane. There was more then
100% effort that Steffi putted in. Every single
lap she passed riders in really difficult
conditions. She pushed hard to get to the front.
And the last laps she was the strongest. The
lead was already given to Livia Lancelot and
second Maria Franke. But Steffi was hanging on!
2 laps before the end she was able to get to 3th place. On the finish line she became 3, with only 6 seconds
behind second place finishing Maria Franke.
Race 2: Steffi took a really good start. Just behind Natalie Kane. It was Kane who could hold the lead for 2
laps and at that moment it was Steffi who did take control. I very impressive ride with no mistakes and a
prove that it is the strongest girl of the moment. She took the race win and took the overall before Maria
Franke and Livia Lancelot.
Steffi " I was really disappointed of my Saturday race. I wanted to win so bad. The crash in the
first corner was because it was so slippery and the back of the bike went sideways and I was lost. I did hurt
my arm a bit but nothing bad! I really did wanted to take revenge on Sunday and it pulled of. I was
surprised that I was still able to win the GP because It thought Livia had more points then me. I am very
happy with this result and look forward to next week. GP of Spain - Belpuig!"
